Coming to the Taste: Alex Day

Bartender extraordinaire Alex Day is considered one of the top mixologists in the country. Last year he formed Los Angeles-based drinks consultancy Proprietors LLC with partner David Kaplan, co-owner of Death & Co. in New York.

Day helped create Chapter & Verse, Proprietors’ test kitchen and lab, and open Bar & Kitchen at the O Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, as well as Ellipsis in Mumbai and London; Demi Monde in New York; and the Rose in Jackson, Wyo. He also has had a hand in cocktail menus across Los Angeles, including at Rosa Mexicana and Stella Rossa.

More projects are underway in New York, London, L.A. and Orange Countyand, a Death & Co. cocktail book is in the works.
