Saugus sophomore Shannon Murakami finished fourth in the Iolani Invitational girls’ race Saturday at Kaaawa, Hawaii, completing the 5-kilometer Kualoa Ranch course in 20 minutes, 29.05 seconds. Lauren Ho of Hawaii Baptist Academy won in 19:59.34.
Redlands East Valley was the top Southern Section finisher in the team competition, placing fourth with 135 points, 25 behind third-place finisher Midlothian, Va. Snohomish, Wash. won with 58.
Beverly Hills junior Max Goldman was the top Southern Section finisher in the boys’ race, finishing ninth in 18:08.61. Jordan McNamara of Auburn (Wash.) Riverside won in 16:39.21.
Long Beach Poly was the top Southern Section team finisher, placing fifth with 138, one point behind fourth place Hayward Moreau Catholic. Snohomish, Wash. won with 54, one point ahead of Auburn (Wash.) Riverside.
