Covina teacher suspected of distributing child porn

Authorities believe a Covina middle school teacher arrested Wednesday on suspicion of distributing child porn over the Internet may have molested children.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, John David Boyle, 49, a teacher at Royal Oaks Middle School, met an undercover operative in his classroom Sunday so they could engage in sexual activity and view child pornography.

Boyle set up the meeting, had chatted with the agent online and believed the agent shared his interest in young boys, according to an affidavit. When the agent arrived at the classroom and presented Boyle with child pornography, he took possession of it, the U.S. attorney’s office said. Agents interviewed Boyle, but he was not arrested that day.

According to a criminal complaint from the U.S. attorney’s office, Boyle, a Glendora resident, used an online account to distribute child pornography. Authorities also found evidence that he may have had sexual contact with minors. Videos depicting child pornography were found on the suspect’s computer Tuesday, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Boyle was arrested Wednesday morning by special agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. His bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
