Sylmar man pleads no contest to running over two fighting teens

A Sylmar man pleaded no contest Monday to charges that he ran over two teen girls involved in an altercation and then fled the scene, prosecutors said.
Miguel Angel Jimenez Jr., 19, was charged with two counts each of felony hit-and-run and one misdemeanor count each of corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, as well as driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Jimenez was parked in front of a Lakeview Terrace home on Nov. 26, 2013, when a former girlfriend and another woman became involved in a physical altercation, prosecutors said. Jimenez then struck the two girls, dragging the two teenagers underneath his car and then leaving them as he attempted to flee in his vehicle.
Jimenez faces six years and six months in state prison at a sentencing hearing scheduled for Aug. 6.
