Man’s shooting death in Hawthorne marks fourth homicide in a year

Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man early Wednesday in Hawthorne, marking the fourth homicide in the city in a year.
The man, whose identity hasn’t been released, was shot about 2:20 a.m. in the 12600 block of Prairie Avenue and taken to a local hospital, where he died of his wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s detectives were assisting Hawthorne police with the investigation.
Authorities released few details about the shooting.
In the three previous homicides in Hawthorne over the last 12 months the victims were either stabbed or beaten to death, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
