Palmdale girl shot in head to be removed from life support, aunt says

The family of a 7-year-old girl who was gravely wounded in a car-to-car shooting in Palmdale on Wednesday morning say they intend to take her off life support.
“Her heart’s pumping because she’s on medicine. Her organs are only working because she’s on life support,” the girl’s aunt, Alicia Galvan, told KTLA-TV. “Her brain’s not functioning. She was shot in the head.”
“They’re going to disconnect her; we’re just waiting for the grandma to get there,” Galvan added.
Family members identified the girl as Desiree Macias. She was riding in the car with her family when a passenger got into a verbal altercation with occupants of another car at a Mobil gas station at Pearblossom Highway and Fort Tejon Road shortly before 12:50 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators found shell casings on the ground at the gas station and at two other locations, including one near the family’s home, KTLA reported.
Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, authorities said, but their identities had not been released. Investigators believe two more men were in the car that opened fire.
“A description was put out and police officers located the vehicle and did a felony traffic stop,” sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Brandon said.
The investigation into the shooting continued.
