A 9-year-old girl who was shot outside an apartment building Wednesday evening has died, Anaheim authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Greenacre Avenue, said Lt. Bob Dunn, a spokesman with the Anaheim Police Department. Several people called 911 and reported hearing multiple shots fired.
The girl, who was struck at least once, received aid outside the apartment and was taken to a hospital, Dunn said. Detectives on the scene are looking for witnesses.
It’s not known if the shooting was gang-related, Dunn said, but a gang in the neighborhood “claims” the area.
The name of the girl has not been released.
