Reader Photo: Birds of a (fanciful) feather

Andrée Matton visits the Los Angeles County Arboretum twice a week for walks. During most of her jaunts, she sees this male guinea fowl with his adopted ceramic family.
“He gives the females little pecks and sometimes gently nudges an egg or a chick,” she said. “Much of the time he just sits peacefully among them, usually close to one of the hens. He really does seem to think that they are his companions.”
Matton took this photo on June 4.
