Ernest Fleischmann, general director of the L.A. Philharmonic, retired after 29 years as head of the orchestra, which played part of the season at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, where this photo was taken. “My attachment, my love for the Philharmonic remains ... but I’ve been here long enough,” said Fleischmann, who joined the Phil in 1969.
