Denver airport shuts down for hour due to tornado warning

A tornado warning in Colorado prompted the complete shutdown of Denver International Airport for about an hour Monday night, forcing everyone inside to seek emergency shelter.
No flights were allowed to leave the airport, and arrivals were diverted during the warning, airport officials said.
The airport tweeted the order to seek shelter about 5 p.m.
All passengers and crew members were told to immediately seek protection in stairwells and bathrooms, officials said. Radar images of the region and photos circulated on social media show an ominous storm system over the area.
About 6 p.m., the warning had been lifted and the airport returned to normal operations, staff tweeted.
Crews were inspecting the airport to make sure there was no damage, officials said.
It was unclear how severely flight schedules were affected.
