Julianna Margulies called herself the “luckiest actor on television,” as she spoke from the stage at the Shrine Auditorium to accept her award. “The Good Wife” actress also sparked some surprising laughter when she added, “I just want to say thank you to my in-laws.” Cut to her husband, New York lawyer Keith Lieberthal, blushing, the “product,” said Margulies, of her in-laws. Awww.

Swaying about, trying to get to center themselves at the podium, “The Social Network” stars Armie Hammer, left, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg presented their film. “If you want, you don’t have to clap,” Garfield said. And as Timberlake took the mike, his voice squeaked because of faulty microphone levels. Then, when Eisenberg finished his straight-faced recap of the issues their film explores, including loyalty, friendship and betrayal, Timberlake turned to him to add, “and fashion!”

During the show’s opening, actors summed up some of the roles they previously took. But “Modern Family’s” Rico Rodriguez spun the intro to suit him. “Believe it or not, when I was younger i was the shyest kid ever. I would hide behind my mom and not talk to anybody. Thankfully, I grew out of that. I am Rico Rodriguez and I am an actor.”

With celebs coming for interviews fast, E!’s Giuliana Rancic has far from an easy job, as the red carpet show is a bonanza of fashion and small talk. Still, it was hard not to cringe when Rancic asked Jesse Eisenberg, who hosted “Saturday Night Live” in New York just hours earlier, how he got to Los Angeles so “quickly.” “Airplanes,” said a confused Eisenberg, adding that the fixed-wing aircrafts have become rather “efficient.”  (Kevork Djansezian / Getty Images)

Before interviewing Jenna Ushkowitz on E!’s red carpet show, the network’s Ross Matthews expressed his excitement at all the “Glee” stars in his presence by noting that he is having a “Glee-gasm.” And that’s how you give viewers a “gag-gasm.”

Natalie Portman, right, (with Helena Bonham Carter) in an Azzaro dress and $2 million worth of jewelry from Tiffany & Co. traveled with private security at the awards show. She urged E! host Giuliana Rancic not to spread the word because she was worried “people will come to chop my ears off,” she said. Rancic also suggested some pretty horrendous baby names during her red carpet interview with the “Black Swan? actress, including “Bunny,” which Portman noticeably cringed at. Rancic awkwardly tried to recoup by saying she made up the names in bed last night. Sure...

Jane Krakowski, wearing Badgley Mischka, stopped on the red carpet to chat with E!’s Giuliana Rancic about her baby bump. “I’ve never been so on trend in my entire life, having a baby when everyone’s having a baby.” The “30 Rock” star shared her new mommy prep with Rancic and said the best part of going to award shows pregnant is not having to suck in your stomach. “You’re Spanx-free, you can just be!”  (Jay L.
