Letters: Be special -- help others

Re “2012’s pop song for grads,” Opinion, June 21
David McCullough Jr. has it right, albeit incompletely. To “you’re nothing special,” I would add “until you make a positive difference in someone’s life.”
Like my late father, whose years of tireless volunteer efforts improved the lives of countless people, you will become “special” only when you reach out and help to make the world a better place.
