Re “C. Gordon Fullerton, 1936 – 2013: Astronaut on Columbia, Challenger,” Obituary, Aug. 23
Thank you for your great photograph and obituary of retired astronaut and engineer C. Gordon Fullerton.
The story celebrated his career and recognized his splendid work on the space shuttles Columbia and Challenger.
I knew him as a talented individual who, along with thousands of other professionals, put together the U.S. space program. It was one of the greatest human achievements of the 20th century.
Fullerton did not ask for recognition. He joined the program to help us all move forward.
I knew him early, and I knew him later. Above all, he was dedicated to the complexity and promise of the space initiative.
