As the government shutdown hit its 10th day, Republicans wrangled among themselves and with President Obama in the stalemate over government spending and borrowing.
Senate GOP members convened Friday morning with Obama after a Thursday meeting between House Republicans and the president that did not end with a resolution to the budget standoff.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of federal workers remain on furlough, national parks in limbo and U.S. citizens irritated all around. A poll Thursday night showed the Republican party taking a drubbing as a result of the shutdown, with only 24% of Americans having a favorable view of the GOP and only 21% with a positive view of the tea party.
