Montage sponsors scholarship contest

Montage Hotels & Resorts, the parent company of the Montage Laguna Beach, is sponsoring a $50,000 college scholarship contest for U.S. students ages 13 to 17, according to a news release.
The third annual Montage Memory Makers contest will award $10,000 to five students who will be judged on three criteria: ongoing community service or volunteering efforts; achievements that have made a meaningful impact in their community; and how their community service inspires others.
Contestants must submit a 300-word essay and additional material on how they inspire and provide service to their communities. Entries will be accepted through Nov. 9.
Company officials will select 10 finalists, and a panel of judges will choose the five scholarship recipients.
Winners will be announced Jan. 4.
