High School Roundup: Newport competes in Clovis

Clovis Invitational
FRESNO — Sophomore Erin Barth led Newport Harbor after finishing 54th in 19 minutes, 22 seconds in the Sweepstakes race at Woodward Park Saturday.
Senior Maggie Goodson was 68th in 19:34 and freshman Holly Clemence finished 119th in 10:19 for the Sailors.
Newport Harbor’s top runner Paige Tennison did not compete.

BOYS’ WATER POLO
Estancia tournament
COSTA MESA — Estancia ended the tournament with an 8-7 win over Marina Saturday.
Jacob Sperling scored five gaols to lead the Eagles (4-7).
Eli Sperling scored the game-winner with 1:59 left. Goalie Garrett Henschied stopped 11 Marina shots.
West Covina beat Estancia, 6-1, Saturday morning. Henscheid made 17 saves.
Chapparal won the tournament with a 13-2 win over Edison ‘B.’
Downey finished third with a 15-4 win over West Covina.

Sage Hill 14, Crean Lutheran 4
COSTA MESA — The Lightning remained undefeated in the Academy League and won all nine sets in doubles Friday.
Liana Korber swept at No. 1 singles for Sage Hill, which plays host to St. Margaret’s on Tuesday.
The Lightning doubles team of Lauren Hsu and Amira Tarsadia; Kimberly Brown and Molly Wang; and Tess Alexander and Briana Rayhaun swept.
