There’s a family photo of a young Dan Cey dressed in a baseball uniform while wearing a Dodger cap at Dodger Stadium. His chin is resting against his hands atop a bat on the field where his father, Ron, was a star third baseman.
Dan would go on to become an All-City shortstop at El Camino Real and top player in college at California. After playing minor league baseball, he retired and started coaching.
On Saturday, Calabasas High School announced it has hired Cey as head coach. He had been an assistant under Thomas Cassidy the last three years after being the junior varsity coach coach for two years. This will be his first head coaching job at the varsity level.
“I’m ready for the challenge,” he said.
