The best baseball player in the City Section this coming season might not be at powers Chatsworth or El Camino Real.
Senior shortstop Nick Atkins of Venice signed with New Mexico and became the first Gondolier early signee in decades.
Atkins had 68 hits this past season and batted .504 with 35 RBIs and 18 steals in 22 attempts.
