Boys’ basketball: Max Heidegger scores 33 points in Mission League opener

Sophomore Max Heidegger finished with 33 points to help Encino Crespi win its Mission League opener with a 79-72 win over Harvard-Westlake. Mike Krkeyan added 17 points for the Celts (13-3, 1-0).
Alemany defeated St. Francis, 65-36. Gary Chivichyan had 21 points and made seven three-pointers. Loyola defeated Notre Dame, 87-59. Thomas Lapham had 19 points and Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 10 points and 11 assists.
In the Trinity League, Orange Lutheran knocked off JSerra, 74-64. CJ Hankins had 17 points. Mater Dei defeated Santa Margarita, 71-49. Stanley Johnson had 19 points and MJ Cage 18. St. John Bosco defeated Servite, 51-39. Daniel Hamilton had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Tyler Dorsey added 15 points.
In the Moore League, Long Beach Poly held off Long Beach Millikan, 72-70.
Providence defeated Flintridge Prep, 57-48, with Josias Parker scoring 21 points. Cleveland defeated Grant, 70-65.
Buckley improved to 18-0 with an 84-35 win over San Jacinto Academy. Austin Butler had 18 points, including five dunks.
