Boys’ basketball: It’s a 30-point opening night for Windward’s Jalen Harris

Jalen Harris tipped off everyone last season as a freshman guard at L.A. Windward that he had the skills and maturity to be a standout.
Well, he’s even better as a sophomore. On Tuesday night in his season debut, Harris scored 30 points in Windward’s 78-57 victory over Lynwood. It was the debut for Steve Smith as head coach.
Windward also showed off a group of promising freshmen. Jules Bernard had nine points. Payton Moore had eight points and 6-foot-8 Shareef O’Neal added seven points. They’re a trio people will be hearing about.
Wonder Smith, a senior guard, supported Harris with 11 points.
