Boys’ basketball: Sylmar Coach Bort Escoto is predicting lots of scoring in DII final
- Share via
The most entertaining game of this weekend could be the City Section Division II championship game on Friday night at 8 o’clock at Roybal matching Sylmar against Garfield.
“Garfield likes to play a street game and we’re going to play with them,” Sylmar Coach Bort Escoto said. “It means the first to 100 wins. Bring your track shoes.”
Escoto lets his players shoot threes seemingly every time down court if they’re open. Garfield’s Stevie Williams also has a green light to shoot threes.
Garfield, though, may have the home-court edge if it brings out fans en masse. Roybal is much closer to Garfield than Sylmar. But Sylmar fans made plenty of noise on Monday night during a semifinal victory over Sun Valley Poly.
It should be a fun night for basketball. Roosevelt will play University in the Division II girls’ final at 6 p.m.
