Football: Alemany gets another shot at Servite
- Share via
It was three years ago, in the 2010 Pac-5 Division semifinals, that Alemany gave unbeaten Servite perhaps its toughest game of the season. Servite prevailed, 28-21, despite 153 yards rushing and 273 passing by Alemany quarterback Vernon Adams.
Now the two teams are set to meet again in Friday’s Pac-5 Division quarterfinals at Cerritos College.
Both teams have quarterbacks capable of doing just what Adams did _ run and pass.
Alemany has Alif Grayes. Servite has Travis Waller, who Alemany Coach Dean Herrington said, “He’s RG3,” referring to Robert Griffin III.
The key to the game will be Alemany’s defense. If the Warriors can prevent Servite from running the ball effectively, Alemany would be in good shape to win.
Servite, though, is more battle tested than any team left in the playoffs. The Friars’ tough schedule has prepared them for anything.
