LA84 Foundation awards $1.3 million in grants

The LA84 Foundation has awarded $1.3 million in grants to youth sports programs around Southern California.
The largest grant of $452,545 went to Beyond The Bell, which provides after-school services to Los Angeles Unified School District middle school students
Students Run LA, a program that trains students to complete the LA Marathon, was awarded $125,000 for race entry fees and uniforms.
The GRYD Foundation’s Summer Night Lights was given $100,000 for uniforms and sports equipment. It’s designed to reduce gang violence by extending operating hours at 32 parks and recreation centers during summer months.
Rose Bowl Aquatics Center’s Olympic Challenge in Pasadena received $56,651 and the EXPO Center Learn to Swim program received $60,000 to help ongoing efforts to prevent drowning through swimming education.
The LA84 Foundation has invested more than $225 million since its formation to take care of surplus funds from the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
