Update: The Galaxy holds a one-point lead over FC Dallas and a four-point lead over Seattle in the Western Conference standings. Although that advantage would not disappear with a Sounders victory, it would reduce the lead over Seattle to one point and eliminate any cushion for the Galaxy. Thus, the return of Galaxy forward Landon Donovan from international duty could not come at a better time. Donovan missed a month of action, yet remains the Galaxy’s leading goal-scorer with eight goals. Galaxy midfielder David Beckham, still sidelined by a back injury, probably will not play.
