Dez Bryant: ‘I’ll be mad’ if Johnny Manziel isn’t suspended

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has nothing against Johnny Manziel, but he does have a big beef with the NCAA.

Would Bryant be mad if Manziel isn’t suspended?

“Hell, yeah, I’ll be mad,” Bryant told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

But then he said he really doesn’t want to see Manziel get suspended.

This isn’t about Manziel, he said, it’s about the NCAA’s double standards and hypocrisy.

“I will be more mad at the NCAA on how they do things,” Bryant said.

Bryant was a star receiver at Oklahoma State who was suspended for most of the 2009 season because of a dinner he had with former NFL star Deion Sanders.

It turned out that eating a meal with Deion was not a violation, but Bryant was suspended for originally lying to the NCAA. He eventually owned up to the dinner but served a 10-game suspension.

Bryant said he believes college players should be paid for their own autographs.

“He should be able to sign as many autographs and make as much money as he wants, because it’s his name,” Bryant said of Manziel.

Texas A&M; and Oklahoma State were both Big 12 members when Bryant was in school. Texas A&M; is now entering its second season in the Southeastern Conference.
