Ed Reed signs three-year, $15-million deal with Houston Texans

The Baltimore Ravens have lost another piece of their 2013 Super Bowl champion team. Safety Ed Reed signed a three-year, $15-million deal with the Houston Texans on Friday.
“I know already what they want to do and that’s win a championship. I came here to do that,” Reed said.
“Houston already has the attributes. I pray and hope I am the attribute needed to take us to the next level.”
Reed, 34, made $7.2 million with the Ravens, who, since winning the Super Bowl, have had Ray Lewis retire, traded receiver Anquan Boldin to the 49ers and have lost linebackers Paul Kruger (Cleveland) and Dannell Ellerbe (Miami), and cornerback Cary Williams (Philadelphia) to free agency.
Reed is the Ravens’ franchise leader in interceptions with 61 and he is the only player in NFL history to score on a punt return, a blocked punt, an interception and a fumble recovery.
“It’s truly a great day for our franchise. We are here to announce — and to celebrate — Ed Reed as a Houston Texan,” Texans General Manager Rick Smith said.
