NBA roundup: Warriors run away from Heat for sixth straight win

Stephen Curry scored 40 points, and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Miami Heat, 114-97, Tuesday night in Miami for their sixth consecutive victory.

Golden State scored 14 straight points to open a 107-95 lead with 2 minutes 50 seconds to go. Curry and Klay Thompson capped the run with consecutive three-pointers.

Thompson had 24 points for the Warriors, who shot 57% from the field. Curry was 12 for 19, including eight for 11 from three-point range.

Chris Bosh scored 26 points for Miami, which did not score a field goal in the last 9:10.

Sacramento 99, at New Orleans 89: DeMarcus Cousins had 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals, leading the Kings to their third straight win. Omri Casspi also scored 22 for Sacramento (9-5), which broke a second-place tie with the Clippers in the Pacific Division. Casspi, who made his first start of the season in place of the injured Rudy Gay, was with New Orleans for a brief stretch this off-season before being released in a salary-cap move. New Orleans forward Anthony Davis was held to 14 points after he scored 28 in a victory at Sacramento a week earlier. He also had nine rebounds and blocked two shots.

at Denver 114, Chicago 109: Ty Lawson scored 20 points, including a key jumper in the waning seconds, and the Nuggets won their fifth in a row and beat the Bulls in Denver for the eighth straight time. Chicago point guard Derrick Rose was limited to 10 minutes in his second game back from a left hamstring strain. Rose, who scored 18 points in his return Monday night at Utah after a four-game absence, felt tightness in the hamstring during the first quarter and didn’t play the rest of the way.

Atlanta 106, at Washington 102: Reserves Mike Scott and Shelvin Mack led a fourth-quarter surge for the Hawks, who handed the Wizards only their fourth loss of the season. Scott and Mack scored Atlanta’s first 16 points of the final period, sparking a 22-5 run that built a 14-point lead before Washington hit a spate of three-pointers to make the final score close. Jeff Teague had a game-high 28 points for the Hawks, who have won six of eight. John Wall had 21 points and 13 assists for the Wizards (9-4), who committed a season-high 25 turnovers.

at Milwaukee 98, Detroit 86: Brandon Knight had 20 points and eight assists to help the Bucks avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season. O.J. Mayo, making his first start of the season, added 17 points for Milwaukee (8-7), and rookie Jabari Parker contributed 14 points and nine rebounds.
