NFL players wear their hearts on their feet for My Cause, My Cleats campaign

If you’re a fan of the custom cleats players such as Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. have worn all season, then you’re in for a treat this weekend.

The NFL will allow players across the league to wear custom cleats in Week 13, but there’s a twist. The cleats will reflect the players’ commitment to charitable causes as part of the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign.

More than 500 players are planning to show off their custom-made cleats. Some have already given us a look of what they’ll be wearing.

Rams punter Johnny Hekker will wear gold and black cleats with “Waterboys” printed near the heels to promote the Waterboys initiative, whose mission is to provide clean, accessible drinking water to rural communities in East Africa.

Defensive end William Hayes will wear green and purple cleats for autism awareness. The cleats will have the words “Autism Awareness” and “HollyRod Foundation” printed on the toes in recognition of the organization founded by Rodney and Holly Robinson Peete.

Players have been using social media with the hashtag #MyCauseMyCleats to showcase their cleats and the stories behind them.

Players from the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings were sporting their special cleats Thursday night.
