California Country Hoe Down

Highlights: This annual conference at Farm Sanctuary’s bucolic shelter includes meeting dozens of animals rescued from factory farms, plenty of vegan food, a barn dance, a silent auction and a yoga class. Onsite camping is available.

Harmony Festival
When, where: June 10-12, Sonoma County Fairgrounds
Highlights: This annual tribute to progressive living presents music (Primus, Flaming Lips, Michael Franti, G. Love and a Jerry Garcia tribute) on five stages, an action-sports zone, yoga, a wellness pavilion and high-profile speakers such as Mariel Hemingway.
Cost: Individual shows start at $45 (plus a $6.75 fee for buying online); $180 buys a three-day, all-access pass (plus a $27 charge for buying online).

Huck Finn’s Jubilee
When, where: June 17-19, Mojave Narrows Regional Park
Highlights: This annual Twain-themed event promises fence painting, greased-pole climbing and river-raft building. Also on the docket: the Route 66 Car Show and the California State Arm Wrestling Championship, plus a barn dance and, a Huck Finn look-alike contest. Camping is available.
Cost: $20; $5 for ages 6-12; free for ages 5 and younger. $85 buys a three-day admission, including two nights of camping ($20 for ages 6-12).

BOONVILLE, CALIF.
Sierra Nevada World Music Festival
When, where: June 17-19, Mendocino County Fairgrounds
Highlights: Toots & the Maytals and Ozomatli headline this celebration of world and reggae music.
Cost: Single-day tickets start at $60; $150 buys a three-day pass. Ages 12 and younger, free with a paid adult. Camping is $60 a vehicle; $200 per RV or bus.

Food & Wine Classic

Highlights: One of the nation’s premier food festivals brings together culinary heavyweights such as Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Tom Colicchio for tastings, seminars, demos and cooking contests.
Cost: $1,185; a percentage of proceeds benefit a sustainable-farming nonprofit
