What ships do cruise passengers like most? Disney Cruise Line received 12 awards in the 2015 Cruisers’ Choice Awards from the website Cruise Critic.
Disney Dream won for best overall cruises for large ships, and the Disney Wonder won for mid-size ships. The Pacific Princess from Princess Cruises took the top spot in the small-ship category, according to a Cruise Critic announcement Monday.
Other Disney awards include best service, best cabins and best families going to Disney Fantasy.
Luxury ship Oceania Riviera won for best cabins and best dining for a mid-size ship, particularly with its emphasis on gourmet food and the onboard Culinary Center.
Carnival Liberty won for best value for money in the large-ship category.
In ratings of shore excursions, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America, which sails year-round in Hawaii, won for a large ship. The Coral Princess from Princess Cruises won in the mid-size category for its Panama Canal cruises.
Silversea’s Silver Galapagos won in the small-ship category for its excursions to the islands off Ecuador.
For fitness facilities, the winners were Celebrity Equinox (large), Oceania Riviera (mid-size) and Azmara Quest (small).
The awards were based on 2014 reviews written by cruisers on Cruise Critic’s website. Large ships are defined as 2,000 passengers or more, mid-sized as 1,200 to 1,900 passengers, and small as less than 1,119.
