What to get for the jet-set starlet, the dapper benefactor/philanthropist or the socially conscious tomboy on your holiday list? We've got the goods from some of the coolest stores around town. First stop? Rodeo Drive, as it undergoes a renaissance with a flurry of renovations and relocations. Farther afield, high-fashion favorites are opening in Melrose Place, Sunset Junction and downtown L.A.

Shop for: British bombshell
Nuts and bolts: Grab the keys to the Tesla and zip over to the new three-story home of Burberry, which has a VIP entrance and dedicated parking. In addition to carrying the Prorsum, London and Brit collections, the store features the first dedicated Burberry beauty space in the L.A. area. This season's bohemian silk georgette dresses, embroidered lace shirts and hand-painted floral organdy trenches are the stuff of Bloomsbury-inspired dreams.

Shop for: Dapper benefactor/philanthropist
Nuts and bolts: Italian designer Brunello Cucinelli is known for his relaxed approach to luxury sportswear, and his new West Coast flagship on Rodeo Drive is a testament to his commitment to craftsmanship. Much like the cashmere knitwear and wool separates on offer, the store's calming décor reflects Cucinelli's love of neutrals with its use of earthy materials and black-and-white photos. In addition to suits and men's sportswear, the boutique offers women's casual and eveningwear.

Shop for: Euro boyfriend with a penchant for prison chic
Nuts and bolts: Dsquared2's 4,500-square-foot space is the first U.S. outpost from pranksters and brothers Dean and Dan Caten. It features their men's and women's street-luxe clothing and accessories, including its current penitentiary-themed collection. The ground level, with 30-foot-tall ceilings, showcases the men's collection; the women's collection is downstairs.

Shop for: Jet-set starlet, pre-awards season
Nuts and bolts: Creative director Frida Giannini lends a luxurious touch to Gucci's newly renovated 22,000-square-foot Beverly Hills flagship store. Smoked mirrors and glass and a black marble staircase add a richness reminiscent of the Art Deco era. To celebrate the store's opening, Giannini designed a limited-edition New Jackie bag, originally made famous by Jacqueline Onassis, of which only 60 were produced. The store offers complete men's and women's collections, including handbags, shoes and jewelry, as well as a third-floor wrap-around terrace dedicated to red-carpet dressing.

Shop for: The "It" girls in your Instagram feed
Nuts and bolts: Irene Neuwirth's eye-popping raw gemstone creations turn up on the red carpet, but where better to gawk at pink tourmaline and Colombian emerald confections than at her first retail store on Melrose Place? Neuwirth collaborated with Commune Design to create a jewel-box space with an "eclectic California luxury meets Wild Animal Park" aesthetic. Vintage furniture mixes with artwork from the estate of Tony Duquette as well as custom dioramas by artists Clare Crespo and Marine Panossian. The real surprise is the Lacanche French range in the kitchen as well as the walnut dining table that seats 10 for Neuwirth's lunches and dinner parties — favorites with L.A.'s fashion elite.

Shop for: Todd Selby when he comes to photograph your house
Nuts and bolts: Inveniam viam aut faciet — Latin for "I shall either find a way or make one" — is the motto of the L.A.-based ultraluxe leather-goods company founded by Mike Feldman and Jason Jones. The label's first brick-and-mortar boutique opened on Melrose last summer and features a 12-foot-by-9-foot drawing of an American bison as well as a custom bison leather chesterfield sofa. The label, which works mostly with free-range-bison leather in saturated colors, is a cult favorite for its handcrafted handbags, men's duffles and accessories with exquisite finishing details such as ceramics, hand-cast copper and antique restored sword chains.

Shop for: Westside boho baby
Nuts and bolts: The Hamptons-based children's line Pink Chicken flies west to Montana Avenue, where its new boutique features block-print, vintage-inspired dresses and separates for girls, as well as books, arts and crafts and jewelry. Designer Stacey Fraser's collection is inspired by her stockpile of vintage fabrics and travels to India; the design of the shop borrows from favorite details at Fraser's Amagansett, N.Y., family home.

Shop for: The teenage daughter who listens to Cherry Glazerr
Nuts and bolts: 10,000-square-foot marble and chrome store designed by rock 'n' roll runway disrupter Hedi Slimane, whose atelier for the French fashion house is based in Los Angeles. The new two-story space is spare and modern, save for a few African furnishings that nod to Saint Laurent's safari-infused heritage.

Shop for: Socially conscious tomboy
Nuts and bolts: Designed and developed in Detroit and dedicated to producing American-made goods such as watches, wallets and bicycles that are every bit as chic on the ladies as on the boys. The company recently opened its doors in Silver Lake, where its 1,110-square-foot boutique offers a wide range of Shinola's products from shoe polish and pet supplies to handcrafted bicycles and iconic watches.

Shop for: That guy with the good hair who hosted a beach bonfire last summer
Nuts and bolts: Vaulted wood ceilings, exposed-brick walls and concrete floors set the scene for a modern-day general store for the everyman by way of Austin, Texas. Founders Don Weir and Steve Shuck bring their smoking-hot edit of American-designed clothes, vintage art and furniture, textiles and apothecary items to Venice. They'll even crack open a Schlitz for you while you shop.

Shop for: The understated music mogul
Nuts and bolts: Japanese global megabrand Uniqlo comes to L.A. with the opening of a 30,000-square-foot store in the Beverly Center. The brand's classic simplicity and high quality at low prices is a favorite with design, music and film creatives. Singer Pharrell Williams and Helmut Lang designer Alexandre Plokhov have designed capsule collections for the brand.

Shop for: Your bestie with the dress that other girls wish they were wearing
Nuts and bolts: Newly opened AltHouse sits on the corner of 8th and South Main streets in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Owner Jennifer Althouse, former head buyer for American Rag and director of merchandising at Planet Blue, mixes vintage inspiration with modern cool at her bright and airy 1,650-square-foot boutique. Racks of must-haves from Suno, Rachel Comey and Rodebjer; intimates from Xirena; and ALT, Althouse's own line of skinny denim and lambskin jackets, are some of the tempting offerings. For those just passing through the neighborhood, curbside delivery is available.
