Reporting from Las Vegas — For one night only, Melody Sweets takes over the Spiegeltent at “Absinthe” in front of Caesars Palace for her own adult circus show.
Dubbed the Green Fairy, Sweet normally performs as a burlesque songstress in the wild variety show. On Friday, June 26, she turns the space into “Big Top Circus and Burlesque.”
Sweets headlines the show, which includes songs and original numbers from her debut album “Burlesque in the Black.”
“Big Top Circus and Burlesque” also includes performances by aerialists Duo Fevrier from “Absinthe,” Lijana Wallenda of The Flying Wallendas and her Wire Walking Wonders, Miss Exotic World Dirty Martini, Jimmy Slonina of Cirque du Soleil, special guests from Frank Marino’s “Divas” and more.
David Perrico of Pop Evolution, Eric Plante of “O by Cirque du Soleil,” Steven Lee of “Donny and Marie,” Mike Benigno of “MJ Live!” and others provide the music.
Sweets, for her part, has had music featured on “Celebrity Fit Club” and “Punk’d” and collaborated with Sting, Björk, Moby, Alice Cooper, The Bravery, Marc Jacobs, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Adriana Lima and Harvey Keitel.
Her album features songs she performs in “Absinthe” including “Slice of Heaven,” “Taboo” and “Up All Night.”
While doors for this show open at midnight and guests must be over 18, visitors can arrive early for face painting by Skin City Body Painting and circus-inspired antics in the courtyard.
Tickets start at $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All proceeds from the event will benefit the UNLV College of Fine Arts.
