The State : Slaying Victim Identified
Calaveras County authorities made their first positive identification of a victim whose remains were found at a remote two-acre foothill site where another two dozen bodies may be buried. Deputy Sheriff Jim Stenquist said a body unearthed near Wilseyville was that of Randy Jacobson, 35, who disappeared last fall after leaving San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district to work for suspected mass slayer Leonard Lake. Stenquist said Jacobson was one of three residents of a run-down San Francisco apartment house called the “Pink Palace” who disappeared after having contact with Lake or his suspected accomplice, Charles Ng. Lake killed himself with a cyanide pill when arrested in a shoplifting incident June 2. Ng, 24, a martial arts expert, is a fugitive.
