MOSCOW — The Soviet Union postponed the maiden launch of its unmanned space shuttle Buran from a pad in Soviet Central Asia early today, but there was no immediate word on what caused the delay.
The official Soviet news agency, Tass, said there had been a four-hour delay in the prestart preparations but did not say why.
The launch of the shuttle had been scheduled for 6:23 a.m. Moscow time today (8:23 p.m. PDT Friday) at the pad in the republic of Kazakhstan.
