PREP FOOTBALL : Freeway League : Arias-to-Bailey Is Winning Combination for Fullerton

Quarterback Rene Arias threw for 2 second-half touchdowns to lead Fullerton High School to a 20-10 Freeway League victory over Buena Park Friday night at Fullerton.
Arias hooked up with wide receiver John Bailey for both scoring plays, which covered 14 and 16 yards. The first capped a 76-yard drive by the Indians (4-4, 2-1) to open the second half and increased Fullerton’s lead to 13-3. The second came with 1:13 left in the game, clinching the victory.
Arias completed 7 of 12 passes for 120 yards.
Hugo Melendez did all the scoring for Buena Park (2-5-1, 0-3). He kicked a 42-yard field goal in the first half and added a 31-yard touchdown catch with 42 seconds left for Buena Park’s other score.
Fullback Steve DePhillips led Fullerton’s ground attack with 92 yards in 17 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown run. DePhillips now has 1,012 yards on the season.
