Chatsworth’s Williams Signs With Giants

Thurman Williams of Chatsworth High has signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants and will report to the team’s rookie-league camp in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday.
Williams, a 31st-round pick who signed Monday, is the second Chatsworth player to sign this week.
Mitch Root, a 17th-round selection, signed with the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
Williams transferred from Anaheim Magnolia High to Chatsworth for his senior season.
A Times All-Valley selection, Williams batted .453 with 28 runs batted in and 27 runs.
