Heart of City Fails to Beat for Sockers

America’s Finest City?
The apathy shown by San Diegans toward the champion, but financially desperate San Diego Sockers, is tragic to say the very least.
I ask America’s Finest City, where is your heart and soul? Where is your appreciation for the class in which this franchise has represented you, both on and off the field, over the last 14 years? Where is your graciousness, civic pride and community spirit?
The time is now for sports fans, non sports fans, politicians, movers and shakers and corporate decision makers to look themselves in the mirror, come forward and pledge ticket support or equity interest.
If the June 30 deadline for capitalization comes and goes and the Sockers get gobbled up by a city that wants them, (and San Diegans ironically love to laugh at Buffalo), “America’s Finest City,” will suffer a black eye that will never heal.
