DIYARBAKIR, Turkey — Turkish troops killed 23 rebel Kurds in four separate clashes in east and southeast Turkey, officials said Saturday.
They said 20 rebels of the banned Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) were killed near Uludere town bordering Iraq after a group crossed into Turkey from bases in northern Iraq late Friday.
One noncommissioned Turkish officer was killed in the clash, they said.
Turkish security forces also killed one PKK member in each of Tunceli, Sirnak and Cizre towns Saturday, they said.
