Ford swept the top four positions for Sunday’s Miller 400 at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., led by the Thunderbird of record-breaking Davey Allison, the defending race champion.
Allison, the current NASCAR Winston Cup leader, turned a lap of 176.268 m.p.h., easily breaking the course record of 175.962 set in 1989 by Geoff Bodine. Allison’s closest pursuer was Mark Martin at 174.897, followed by Bill Elliott at 174.821.
