Friedberg Will Retire as Sony Unit Chairman

Alan Friedberg has decided to retire as chairman of the Loews Theatres division of Sony Corp.’s Culver City-based Sony Pictures Entertainment Co., effective Dec. 31.
Friedberg, who will relinquish his day-to-day responsibilities at New York-based Loews, will continue as an executive of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Co., focusing on regulatory issues and international exhibition opportunities.
The details of his new position have not yet been determined, and his replacement has not been named.
