PREP ROUNDUP : No. 7 Villa Park Beats No. 5 El Modena in Girls’ Tennis

Lindsay Fry and Jill Riley swept their doubles sets, 6-2, 7-6, 6-1, to help seventh-ranked Villa Park defeat No. 5 El Modena, 11-7, in Century League girls’ tennis Thursday.
The Spartans (10-3, 5-3) swept their doubles sets.
Brandi Freudenberg swept in singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, for El Modena (12-1, 7-1).
In other Century League tennis:
Foothill 14, Orange 4--Jane Park swept in singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, and her sister Jennifer and partner Sarah Rubin swept in doubles, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2, for Foothill (4-2 in league).
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 13, Esperanza 5--The Surapruik sisters, Linda and Susan, each swept their singles sets for El Dorado (12-4, 7-1).
Katella 10, Loara 8--Patty Villaroman swept at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, for Katella (3-5 in league).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 13, Brethren Christian 5--Kim Newell, who won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, in singles, and Michelle Fry and Jessica Ming, who won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, in doubles, led Orange Lutheran (7-5, 5-2).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Costa Mesa, 16, Century 2--Lynn Trang swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 and Song Kim and Betty Fukumoto swept in doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Costa Mesa (2-5 in league).
Laguna Beach 17, Trabuco Hills 1--Sophomore Michelle Bray swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Laguna Beach (7-0 in league).
In the Orange League:
Western 11, Anaheim 7--Erin Maroney and Suha Bandak won their sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to lead a doubles sweep for Western (5-10, 2-6).
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 16, Saddleback 2--Leanne Colton, playing in her first varsity match for Corona del Mar, swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. The Sea Kings are 14-1, 11-1.
Newport Harbor 11, Santa Margarita 7--Mara Colaizzi swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, to lead Newport Harbor (16-1, 11-0).
Woodbridge 10, Irvine 8--Lindsey Sterling and Liz Adcock swept at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2, to lead Woodbridge (13-4, 8-3).
In the South Coast League:
El Toro 11, Capistrano Valley 7--Kate Kunath swept at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, to lead El Toro (7-7, 3-3).
In the Sunset League:
Rosary 11, Huntington Beach 7--Colleen Coady swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1 to lead Rosary (12-5, 9-2).
In Century League girls’ volleyball:
El Modena 3, Villa Park 2--Lynsey Koopman had eight kills and nine blocks to lead El Modena (5-4, 4-2) to a 9-15, 15-9, 11-15, 15-10, 16-14 victory.
In the Empire League:
Los Alamitos 3, Cypress 0--Stacy Laitsch had 11 kills and three aces to lead Los Alamitos, 15-9, 15-5, 15-4.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 3, Fullerton 0--Jennifer Coopman had 12 digs and 11 kills as the Lancers won, 15-9, 15-6, 15-5.
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 3, Los Amigos 1--Jennifer Holcomb and Danvy Vu each had nine kills for La Quinta (10-2, 9-1), in an 18-16, 3-15, 15-2, 15-6 victory. Los Amigos is 7-5, 5-5.
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 3, Woodbridge 0--Lindsay Jones had 12 kills for Irvine (8-6, 6-4), in a 15-5, 15-9, 15-11 victory.
University 3, Tustin 2--Ayesha Attoh had 15 kills and Asleigh Cross had 12 kills and five aces for visiting University (6-6, 5-5), which won, 15-2, 15-17, 17-7, 8-15, 15-12.
