AZUSA : Brush Fire Chars 50 Acres in San Gabriel Mountains
- Share via
A brush fire burned 50 acres in the San Gabriel Mountains above Azusa on Friday before it was contained by firefighters battling it from the ground and the air.
The 10:58 a.m. fire, in Fish Canyon directly above a gun club, may have been ignited when a person on the firing range used illegal steel ammunition, which causes sparks upon impact with rocks, authorities said.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury when a rock hit him in the side, but he was back on the lines after treatment at the scene, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Angel Montoya said.
