Two elderly sisters died and their brother was in critical condition after a pre-dawn house fire Friday in Alhambra that sent flames shooting five feet above the roof before the blaze was controlled by firefighters.
The victims were identified as Kathleen C. Membry, 93, and Ellen Moffatt, whose age was given as in the mid-80s. Howard L. Carlton, also in his mid-80s, was in critical condition Friday at Garfield Medical Center in Monterey Park.
Alhambra firefighters responding to a 3:18 a.m. alarm found the one-story home in the 1600 block of South El Molino Street burning.
