NHL ROUNDUP : Nordiques’ Snow Stops Islanders

Garth Snow, making his NHL debut in goal, stopped 24 shots as the Quebec Nordiques defeated the New York Islanders, 3-2, Friday night at Uniondale, N.Y.
Iain Fraser had a goal and an assist for the Nordiques, who have three victories and three ties in the last seven games.
Snow, a prospect for the U.S. Olympic team, signed with the Nordiques last week.
Washington 2, Montreal 2--The Capitals held the Canadiens scoreless for the final 59 minutes at Landover, Md.
Guy Carbonneau and John LeClair scored for the Canadiens in the opening 5:25, but they could not put the puck past goalie Rick Tabaracci the rest of the way.
Detroit 8, Ottawa 1--Paul Coffey had a goal and two assists at Detroit.
The Red Wings took 37 shots in the game to only 21 for the Senators, who have only a victory and a tie in their last 10 games.
Winnipeg 3, San Jose 3--The Jets’ Keith Tkachuk sent the game into overtime with a goal with 44 seconds to play in regulation after Sandis Ozolinsh had given the Sharks a 3-2 lead with 1:27 left. Pat Falloon had two goals for the Sharks.
