Coach Chuck Knox said he has no candidates yet to replace quarterback coach Ted Tollner, who on Friday was named San Diego State’s new head coach.
Tollner will remain on the Rams’ staff for the rest of the season. Their final regular-season game is Jan. 2 against Chicago.
“I don’t have anybody in mind right now,” Knox said. “I’m too busy concentrating on what we have to do. We’ll have plenty of time to do that once the season is over.”

Rookie Keith Loneker will start at left guard Sunday at Phoenix in place of Tom Newberry, who re-injured his sprained right knee in practice Thursday. Darryl Ashmore will start at right tackle in place of Jackie Slater (torn pectoral muscle). . . . Fullback David Lang is expected to get some work on kickoff returns.
