Coach: Curt Bauer (second year).
1992-93: 25-1-3, 11-1-3 in the Sea View League; Santa Margarita tied Corona Centennial for Division IV title, 1-1.
Key returners: John Bamford, Sr., sweeper, two-year All-Sea View League player, All-Southern Section, invitee to U.S. under-20 national team tryouts; Mike Doria, Sr., midfielder; Seth George, Jr., midfielder, first-team all-league pick; Sergio Godoy, Sr., midfielder; Mike Greco, Sr., goalkeeper; Jeff Maguire, Sr., defense.
Key newcomers: Mike Alred, Jr., defense; Matt Blasdel, So., midfielder; John McDonald, Sr., defense; Tim Padayachee, Jr., defense.
Outlook: Bauer lost eight starters off last year’s championship team, six to Division I and II colleges. He returns one of the county’s top players in Bamford. “He is the stabilizing factor for us,” Bauer said. “We’ll unleash him a little bit more on the offensive end this year.” Most of the scoring load will fall on George, the Eagles’ third leading scorer (nine goals, 15 assists) last year. Doria will provide assists and leadership. “He has to do all the dirty work,” Bauer said.
