Re “AMA Calls on Investors to Dump Tobacco Stocks,” April 24:
Kudos to the American Medical Assn. in advocating that investors purge tobacco-related securities from their portfolios. The suggestion to divest tobacco is one that I personally will take the AMA up on. I’m glad I can contribute, albeit in a small way, to saving someone’s health and possibly life.
I will never forget the cynical brazenness of tobacco executives when they stood before Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Los Angeles) and contended that tobacco is not addictive. They epitomize the worst in American business.
