Williams Leads Capistrano Valley Christian

MISSION VIEJO — Quarterback Wayland Williams passed for 146 yards, scored four touchdowns and intercepted two passes as Capistrano Valley Christian won its home opener, 35-0, over Pasadena Poly at Saddleback College.
On Capistrano Valley Christian’s first play after a penalty in the first quarter, Andrew Jennings caught an 81-yard pass from Williams. After another penalty, Williams scored on a six-yard run. Tim Baker ran in for the two-point conversion to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead.
On the second play of Poly’s next possession, Williams intercepted Bob Shenk deep in Eagle territory.
The next two Poly possessions resulted in turnovers. First, Jennings recovered Poly running back Michael Glover’s fumble. The Panthers got the ball back, but Williams intercepted a Shenk pass.
Bryant Wolfsberger began the second half by returning the kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown and a 15-0 lead.
Late in the third quarter, Williams scored from a yard out. The extra point was blocked, making the score, 21-0.
Williams scored another touchdown on a one-yard run with 7:12 left in the game. Three minutes later, he scored on a five-yard run.
