Villa Park Comes On Strong to Beat Trabuco Hills

Third-ranked Villa Park started off a little slow against unranked Trabuco Hills, but turned it on in the third quarter to beat the Mustangs, 9-4, in a quarterfinal game of the Long Beach Millikan water polo tournament Friday.
Nick Pacelli had four goals to lead Villa Park. Trabuco Hills goalie Jessica Gatzke recorded 12 saves. Villa Park will play Capistrano Valley in a semifinal game today at 12:30.
In another quarterfinal game:
Capistrano Valley 11, Irvine 3--Capistrano Valley scored six first-quarter goals to take a 6-0 lead. Chris Carnahan scored four goals and Ryan Wall added three for Capistrano Valley (3-0).
In nonleague water polo:
Katella 10, Magnolia 7--Scott Cutler had 12 saves in the victory for Katella (4-2), ranked seventh in Division II.
Western 9, Orange 8--Lynn Maple, who led Western with four goals, scored the winning goal with 3 minutes left in the game. Ronny Cunningham had nine saves for Western (2-0).
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Brea Olinda 11, Orange 7--Freshman Jackie Pham swept in No. 1 singles for Brea, beating Duyen Pham, 6-3, Kris Gonzalez, 6-0, and Melissa Irvwg, 6-1. Brea is 4-0.
