Stop Sign to Be Posted to Deter Speeders

One of three proposed stop signs soon will be erected where Concourse Street ends at Brighton Street.
City officials last week decided to install only one of the three signs that a Brighton resident requested.
The resident, Kimberly White, said the signs are needed to help stop speeding traffic on the street.
City officials said all the signs were not warranted and that two other stop signs already are posted nearby.
Council members acknowledged that speeding is a problem, however, and planned to step up police patrols in the neighborhood. In a recent 25-hour period, police cited 48 speeders in the area and found that 60% of the violators lived in the neighborhood.
Officials recommended that residents get together in an effort to educate themselves on speed-limit laws.
